MSU-China links
- Asian Languages and Cultures. MSU offers various undergraduate degrees and non-degree programs with a concentration on the study of the language and culture of China and other Asian nations.
- Asian Studies Center. With more than 90 affiliated faculty members, the 46-year-old MSU center directs one of the largest, most diverse programs of education about Asia in the Midwest.
- Center for Global Change and Earth Observations. The center conducts research to identify causes of global change and its effect on human and animal health in China and across the globe.
- Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability. Run by renowned MSU professor Jianguo “Jack” Liu, the center conducts research on environmental issues facing China and the world.
- Confucius Institute. Established in collaboration with the Chinese government, the institute, housed in MSU’s College of Education, helps train Chinese language teachers and provides Chinese learning materials and experience to both K-12 students and adults.
- Michigan 4-H China Project. Conducted in cooperation with MSU Extension and the Chinese government, the 19-year-old program provides Michigan elementary students a greater sense of the world through in-school and after-school learning experiences that stress the arts.
- MSU-U.S./China Rural Development Training Program. Offered through MSU’s Institute of International Agriculture, the program trains Chinese officials on such topics as rural economic development, international trade and agricultural technology.
- Office of China Programs. Established in 2005 by President Lou Anna K. Simon, the office aims to expand MSU’s presence in China through academic, research and economic development initiatives. The office is directed by Weijun Zhao.
- U.S.-China Center for Research on Educational Excellence. The center, housed in MSU’s College of Education, works to develop education models that integrate the strengths of both Eastern and Western practices through scientific research of top schools and educational programs in China and the United States.
- 3e International Kindergarten. Affiliated with MSU and Beijing Normal University, this highly influential school in Beijing offers a Mandarin-English bilingual immersion program.
