MSU's global impact: China
Michigan State continues its nearly 50-year focus on China with a host of research, education and outreach projects. Among them:
- A pioneering study conducted in China and co-authored by MSU professor Jianguo “Jack” Liu found that peer pressure plays a major role in people’s environmental behavior – a tendency that should be exploited when it comes to protecting the earth.
- MSU launched an effort to help international students locate more job opportunities in their home countries, a partnership between MSU’s Office for International Students and Scholars and MSU Career Services Network.
- Michigan State has created one of the first institutes to support Chinese language teachers. The Teacher Institute for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language will build on the university’s renowned teacher-education programs to support the emerging needs of Chinese language educators around the world.
These projects – and others available through the links below – reflect MSU’s commitment to expand its global reach as the university recasts its land-grant mission to meet 21st-century challenges and opportunities.
