Stakeholders statement regarding West Michigan MSU Medical School proof of concept

For the past several months, leaders in health care, education, research and economic development have been engaged in in-depth discussions to determine the feasibility of adding a medical school to West Michigan . Their objective is to enhance medical education, the health care environment and the economic stature of our region.
These community leaders have determined that building a Michigan State University West Michigan Medical School will allow our region to create a strong niche in biomedical and life sciences research, health care and commerce. Their efforts have led to a Proof of Concept and a collection of working papers that constitutes a framework by which this initiative could be undertaken. It is a reference point that provides the necessary foundation for the next steps in the process. These include the completion and execution of contracts between MSU and key community partners.
The stakeholders will continue to update the community on their efforts as the process moves forward.
