Founders' Day Celebration to honor 28

Nine faculty members will receive a Distinguished Faculty Award during the Founders' Day Celebration Feb. 11, bringing to 418 the number of faculty honored since the award was established in 1952.
They and 19 other award winners will be honored at the ceremony, set for 2 p.m. in the Great Hall of Wharton Center.
The presentation of the awards will precede the inaugural address, the installation of President Lou Anna Kimsey Simon, and the president's address. Musical numbers will be performed by the MSU Symphony Brass and Percussion, the MSU Symphony Orchestra and the MSU Jazz Band I. A reception will follow the ceremony.
Each of the nine Distinguished Faculty Award winners, who are being recognized for outstanding contributions to the intellectual development of MSU, will receive $3,000.
Also to be presented are the:

Presidential Award for Outstanding Community Service, which carries a $2,500 stipend. One individual is being recognized for extraordinary and sustained voluntary community achievements that extend beyond the scope of designated university responsibilities.

Distinguished Academic Staff Award, which carries a $2,500 stipend. Four individuals are being recognized for extraordinary academic achievement, excellence and exceptional contributions.

Teacher-Scholar Award, which carries a $2,000 stipend. Six individuals are being recognized for devotion to and skill in teaching and scholarly promise.

MSU Alumni Club of Mid-Michigan Quality in Undergraduate Teaching Award, which carries a $2,000 stipend. Two individuals are being recognized for quality teaching and substantial continuing involvement in undergraduate education.

Excellence-in-Teaching Citation, which carries a $1,000 stipend. Six individuals are being recognized for meeting classroom responsibilities and for scholarly promise as a graduate assistant.
The event will be covered live online at WMSU.org and will be broadcast to faculty and students who receive MSU's campus cable services and aired on ‘KAR3, a cable service of WKAR-TV available to Greater Lansing/East Lansing and Meridian subscribers of Comcast cable services.
Replays will be shown on MSU campus cable systems at 10 a.m. Feb. 12; 1 p.m. Feb. 3; 4 p.m. Feb., 7 p.m. Feb.15, 11 a.m. Feb.16, and 9 p.m. Feb.7 and will be archived at WMSU.org
