She has expertise in tropical diseases, including malaria and HIV/AIDS. In particular, she is an expert on the physical, social and psychological effects of epilepsy on African populations. Michael Bratton is a University Distinguished Professor of political science in the College of Social Science. His expertise lies in the political landscape of Africa, especially in the nation of Zimbabwe. He is also a founder and director of the Afrobarometer, a collaborative, international, survey research project that measures public opinion on democracy, markets and civil society in 18 African countries. His current research focuses on public opinion in new democracies, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. More.

Taylor is a University Distinguished Professor of internal medicine in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. An internationally recognized scientist and physician, Taylor spends six months of the year in Malawi, conducting malaria research and treating patients, the vast majority of whom are children. She has written numerous papers for scientific journals on various treatments for malaria and she is a member of an Institute of Medicine panel researching anti-malaria drugs. More.
